SafeWork NSW create new online register to help employers, workers and consumers

Peter Dunphy, Executive Director SafeWork NSW recent wrote to the Concrete Pumping Association of Australia (CPAA) to inform our members about changes to the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 to create an online register that will enable employers and consumers to verify all SafeWork NSW high-risk work licence holders, asbestos and demolition licence holders, and general construction induction training card holders.

The amendment to the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 is available here.

The register is a one-stop shop for builders, contractors, tradespeople and consumers in NSW. It has been designed to make it easier for businesses to check the validity of workers’
licences/cards, as required, providing greater business confidence while maintaining appropriate levels of consumer protection.

The register will be published in two phases and further consultation with key stakeholders will be undertaken before phase 2 begins. We welcome the Concrete Pumping Association of Australia input.

  • Phase 1, scheduled for release on 29 January 2018, will include publication of the licence/card holder’s name, licence number and type, licence status, and the licence expiry date (if any).
  • Phase 2 – anticipated to occur in April 2018 – will include publication of licence conditions, andpenalty and prosecution actions.
